Information about the programme
The ERASMUS programme is the largest programme of European co-operation in the field of college and university education. It supports the co-operation of tertiary institutions from member countries with the aim to achieve a better quality tertiary education. Another aim is to support the European dimension of education. It focuses on important objectives of the Bologna process - creating the European area of higher education including the introduction of the comparability of accomplished education. The main activities of the ERASMUS programme are:
  • exchange programmes of studies in foreign countries for students of universities, colleges and higher professional schools lasting 3 - 12 months
  • pedagogic foreign stays of university teachers lasting 1 week - 6 months
  • introducing European credit transfer system (ECTS)
  • student foreign work placement in foreign institutions 3 - 12 months
  • programmes of European thematic networks and joint development of study programmes (Curriculum Development)
In the Czech Republic the ERASMUS programme is open to both public and private colleges and universities and also to chosen higher professional schools.

College of Polytechnics Jihlava as the first school of this type in the Czech Republic specializing in professionally oriented education with a focus on regional needs co-operates with similarly specialized tertiary institutions in Europe in the field of student and teacher mobilities.

On the present College of Polytechnics Jihlava cooperates with 13 foreign institutions. In the academic year 2007/2008 College of Polytechnics Jihlava has opened new modules in English for Erasmus students. But also the Czech students take advantage of these modules.
